This week, we kicked off our study of the formation of Earth. We discussed the 'Cosmic Dance'--the beginning of the cooling process and also did an experiment to show this. While telling the story of the Earth, we made pudding and related it to the formation--we observed the bubbling as the mixture boiled, watched the mixture thicken, then removed it from the heat and watched the steam rise from the pudding. Over the week, we observed how the pudding changes and related it to the crust of the Earth. Third level students were introduced to the Test Tube Division material this week and are practicing division with a one digit divisor. Second and Third level students worked with area and perimeter, and learned how to count, read and write numbers in standard form, expanded notation and word form. Second level students continue to work on skip counting, and dynamic addition/subtraction. First level students are working on how to rewrite problems making tens or doubles, addition/subtraction word problems, and continue working with place value. All students had fun adding words to our noun, adjectives and verbs posters. They continue to develop their writing skills, how to focus on a topic and add details to support it.
They are also practicing compare and contrast, as well as other reading comprehension skills such as sequence and figurative language.

This week we honored Taylor for our Kindness Roast.
Everyone had great things to say about her! She is incredibly thoughtful and considerate, a true role model in our class. She is a friend to everyone and goes above and beyond to help our environment.
