Field Day was SO MUCH FUN! Thank you, Ms. Holli for helping me organize this event for our Lower Elementary team. The kids had a great time and it was so exciting to be active outside for the day! Thank you to Ms. Jen and Ms. Nicola for tie-dying the team t-shirts. And a big thanks Ms. Laura, Ms. Esme, Ms. Holly, and Ms. Brenda for helping out on the field! We hope you had as much fun as we did! There are a ton of great photos from our day in the Moments section. Enjoy!
The kids continue to work on their biology books and are doing some preparation for our upcoming ceremony. This week we also learned about human anatomy. We discussed the five systems of the human body, main organs, and learned names of some major bones. It's hard to tell in the picture, but with our skeleton X-ray, we were able to have an inside look at the human skeletal system!
We ended our week with some early walks-around-the-sun. Eight of our community members have summer birthdays, so we wanted to give them the opportunity to share some of their memories and photos throughout their lives. Happy (early) Birthday to.... Taylor and Delaynie (June 26), Karmelo (July 6), Darlin (July 11), Sean (July 25), Summer (August 8), Minami (August 25), and Emma (August 28)!
We hope your next trip around the sun is amazing!

Thank you all for your kind words and support about my relocation to Shanghai. I am extremely confident in my replacement and knowing made me feel much better about leaving. I plan to leave many of my materials/lessons with her for now to use with the kids. Many things will remain consistent as far as the community and environment the kids worked so hard to build.
It will be a smooth transition and no doubt another exciting year to come!
The questions the kids asked were quite funny, "But....WHY CHINA?!" "Are you going to eat a lot of Chinese food?" "Are you going to wear those (traditional) clothing?" "Why do you HAVE TO go to China?!"
I think the shock of the location aided in taking the sad part away. I am really going to miss these kids! I look forward to returning to Southern California in the future, but for now I figure it's a good time to experience a different culture while still being able to do what I love.
Thank you all again for your incredible support and encouragement.
I can't believe we are down to the last week of school! We shall make it an amazing one!
Have a great weekend!
